Award
Each year the Camden County Hero Scholarship Fund Awards Committee requests nominations for Law Enforcement Officers, Firefighters and Emergency Medical Service Personnel and Civilians who have exhibited extraordinary bravery, professionalism, dedication, and selfless commitment to duty.
Awards are presented in the following categories:
Medal Of Honor
To be bestowed upon a member of Public Safety who takes action above and beyond the call of duty, which results in his/her death.
Distinguished Service Award
Awarded for a deed of personal bravery or self-sacrifice made by a member of Public Safety. It involves the risk of the member's own life above and beyond the performance of duty.
Purple Heart
Presented to a member of Public Safety who dies, or sustains serious injury, as a direct result of actions taken in the performance of his/her duty.
Meritorious Award
Awarded for a highly creditable accomplishment bringing public acclaim to him/herself, his/her department or the public safety profession, as a result of devotion to duty or service to the public.
Unit Citation
Presented to a Public Safety Unit that has worked collectively for a highly creditable and unusual accomplishment that involves bravery or selfsacrifice, or the risk of one or more unit member's life above and beyond the performance of duty.
Civilian Award
Presented to a civilian who performs a heroic act contributing to Public Safety. All awards submitted are subject to review by the awards committee and are awarded at the sole discretion of the Board of Trustees of the Camden County Hero Scholarship.
